February 2008: Pete Balsells celebrates 80th birthday.

On February 11th, 2008, Pete Balsells celebrated his 80th birthday. In a party at a hotel in Huntington Beach, California, his family and friends surprised him with a cake made after Gaudi’s famed Sagrada Familia. The Henry Samueli School of Engineering gave him a plaque to commemorate the occasion and his support to engineering eduaction through the California-Catalonia programs.
