November 2005: Conseller Carles Solà visits UCI.

On November 10, 2005 and accompanied by three representatives from DURSI, Conseller Carles Solà visited the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at the University of California, Irvine. On this occasion, Conseller Solà visited some of the laboratories where the Catalan students from the Balsells Fellowship program conduct their research and also met with Professor Roger Rangel, Director of the Balsells program at UCI and with the Dean of the HSSoE, Professor Nick Alexopoulos. Dr. Solà and his group also met with Mr. Pete Balsells, visited Bal Seal Engineering and attended a human castle demonstration by the California Kids. This year, the Catalan government is contributing over $250,000 to the various California-Catalonia engineering programs at UCI. For pictures of the event, please visit our Flickr page.
