This past summer, Jordi Ros, a 1998 Balsells fellow, participated and directed a volunteer technology project named ThinkLab. In this project, which was sponsored by Engineers without Borders USA, Jordi and 3 other volunteers collected 11 laptops from the US and installed them in a local school in Jocotenango, Guatemala. The group taught a crash course in computer networks using only open source software (Linux) and a DSL connection. Through computers and Internet, ThinkLab hopes to provide the means to open the imagination and curiosity of the students.
