April 2005: The rector of UAB visits UC Irvine

For the purpose of developing a new fellowship in the area of biotechnology, the rector (president) of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), Professor Llu\EDs Ferrer, and the director general of Catalan Institute for Agricultural Research (IRTA), Dr. Josep Tarrag\F3, visited UCI to meet with Pete Balsells and Professor Roger Rangel, Director of the Balsells Fellowship program. Also attending were Professor Lowell Lewis, California-Catalonia liaison in Barcelona, and Llu\EDs Perez-Grau, of UC Davis. In addition to discussing the creation of the new fellowship, the visitors had the opportunity to meet several of the Balsells fellows currently at UCI. (Visit our Flickr page for photos.)
