Welcome message
Welcome to the Girona Fellowship page.
The Girona fellowship was created in 2003 by a partnership between the Henry Samueli School of Engineering at UC Irvine, the Catalan government through the Departament d'Universitats, Recerca i Societat de la Informació (DURSI), and the Patronat of the Escola Tecnica Superior of the University of Girona. It was created in the same spirit of the Balsells Fellowship, established in 1995, to prepare the most talented young engineers and scientists from Catalonia in their pursuit of post-graduate degrees (M.S. and Ph.D.) in engineering. The program thus promotes the scientific and technological advancement of Catalonia and strengthens the collaborations between UCI and California on the one hand and the region of Girona and its university on the other.
Each Girona Fellowship has a total value of 49,500 of
which approximately $27,000 covers annual tuition, fees, and health insurance. The balance of $21,000 is paid to the recipient as a stipend in twelve installments of approximately $1,750 each. Beyond the first year, Girona fellows are supported by the Henry Samueli School of Engineering. For biographies of former and current fellows, click here .
If you are interested in applying for a Girona fellowship, please submit your application for admission to the UC Irvine School of Engineering by February 1 st each year.
