In early December of 2013, we celebrated the annual Balsells luncheon at the Library room of the University Club. Fellows presented their research in the usual poster session prior to the lunch. The speaker was Peter Garriga, president of the Catalan Club (Casal) of Southern California, who spoke about the historical connections between California and Catalonia. The Dean of Engineering, Professor Greg Washington, took this opportunity to teach the fellows how to make the Zot salute.
